Self Portrait
I drew my self-portrait drawing like this because I wanted to show the lighter and darker shades of the face and I wanted to put a lot of detail into this drawing to show all of the features on my face. My inspiration for this drawing was myself because I was drawing myself and I wanted to show all of the detail in my face and bring out all of the shadows and highlights in my face and make the colors pop out more. I did not reflect off of an artist, I just followed the steps that it took to draw each part on the face in class when we worked on the portrait booklet and drew myself based on what I learned. The piece I was drawing was originally going to have my ears show, but I then realized that my hair was covering my ears, therefore I did not need to draw the ears. This changed the drawing because it is an extra detail that I did not need in my drawing, otherwise, my drawing wouldn't look as much like me. How I changed this feature in my drawing was by erasing the ears and drawing my hair over where my ears were supposed to go to make it look more like me. Something I think I did well with was unity because my drawing looks complete and well drawn, and using value in my drawing, I feel I used all of the colors on the value scale going from the lightest to the darkest color. A big challenge for my drawing was the nose and getting the right color for each section of the face. I think the nose was a challenge because it was hard to shape and all around hard to draw because you had to make each side even and I wasn't very good at that, and the color was hard to do because I felt like my face was a little too dark and I couldn't get it the right color. How I grew as an artist/ person was because I learned how to draw a face and draw each feature on the face correctly, and I feel it could really help me in future drawings. Something I learned was how to draw an eye correctly, I had no clue that the way I learned was the way to make an eye look real. I feel that it was the main thing that I learned out of this project.
